Genius Yield: the engineering team behind an expert-level Cardano exchange
Genius Yield set out to build an expert-level exchange on Cardano: not a swap widget, a professional trading venue meant to stand against the best decentralised exchanges on any chain. The hard part was never the code. It was that the team who could write it did not exist yet, and building one in a narrow niche is the most expensive and riskiest thing a startup does. bytehive supplied that team.

The limit order ticket sits beside the live order book and the ADA / GENS price chart, with bids, asks and spread on one screen and open orders listed below.

The vaults dashboard tracks total value locked, 24 hour volume and the position value of the connected wallet, over a pool table ranked by APR with price, TVL and a seven day trend.

The swap ticket pairs a from and to amount with a limit price and preset percentages, against a candlestick chart of the pair with volume underneath.

Every order placed on the account, filterable by date range and status, with volume traded, fill rate and fees paid summarised above and partial fills expanded in place.

They did not want contractors who would spend a quarter ramping up. They wanted people inside the product from day one who spoke the founders' language, and what they were really buying was the end of a hiring problem.
So we sold them a team rather than hours. We ran the search, the selection, the onboarding and the ongoing management, and four full-stack blockchain engineers were on the core product from their first working day. The founders got their own time back for the things only founders can do: the product, the community and the fundraising. Not one week of it went into interviewing.
That team came in at the stage where the decisions cannot be taken back, on the architecture and the trading engine, and the exchange that reached Cardano mainnet in December 2023 sits on the foundation they laid. The piece that mattered most commercially was the order book, a rarity on a chain where simple automated market makers had always dominated, with programmable order types and smart order routing for execution price, and an API underneath it for trading bots and market makers.
The engagement ran as one long embed rather than as a sequence of projects, and it ended there. There was no second round, and this page does not invent one.
Four engineers held inside a client's core product from day one, and a mainnet order-book exchange built on the foundation they laid.
Genius Yield has since been funded repeatedly through Project Catalyst, Cardano's community grant programme, where a working product and visible technical progress are what a proposal is judged on. Those grants are the client's milestone, and we attach no share of them to us. What is ours is the team that made the product real enough to be judged.
